Responsibility
Bedfordia is founded upon the principle of responsibility. This principle guides
the actions and activities of the company and is reflected in all of our dealings
with our employees and the communities in which we operate.
Our aspiration is for Bedfordia to continue to make a positive contribution to society through its businesses and by the way it does business - in a sustainable, environmentally sound and responsible manner.
Wherever possible, we seek to give something back and to make a positive difference to the communities where we operate.
We like to support good causes, especially smaller local groups who do not have the recognition or resources of larger charities.
Each year we donate money to charities specifically chosen by our employees instead of sending corporate Christmas cards.
Bedfordia has previously opened up its farm to the public to host ‘Open Farm Sunday’ a national initiative by LEAF (Linking Environment and Farming) which helps people make the connection between farming and the food on their plate.
The last time the event was held we welcomed over 2,000 visitors and raised £4,000 for charity.
Environment
We recognise that caring for the environment is a shared responsibility and so we aim to make it easy for everyone to play their part in whatever way they can.
Protecting and caring for the environment, our land and our livestock is intrinsic to our business operations.
Bedfordia Farms is heavily involved in the Countryside Stewardship Scheme to enhance and conserve English landscapes, their wildlife and history and to help the local community to enjoy them.
