Young People and Schools
Bedfordia recognize that young people of today are our future employees, customers and business partners. With this in mind we work closely with local educational establishments and when appropriate provide educational support in a variety of ways. This has previously included school or student sponsorship, involvement with environmental and commercial projects and topics, paid and unpaid work experience and field trip opportunities.
How are we involved?
- Bedfordia Group annually sponsor the Bedfordia Cross Country Run at Lincroft Middle School
- Bedfordia Group is supporting Sharnbrook Upper School’s paper recycling scheme and ‘Not Big but Clever’ art projects.
- Bedfordia regularly make donations to schools for various projects including playground project, rugby tours and sports days.
- Elms BMW Bedford is sponsoring The SportsAid Foundation an organization which provides financial assistance for 1,500 amateur young sportsmen and sportswomen each year.
- Bedfordia Farms provide assistance for local students studying Geography and Environmental Science by means of field trips and educational tours. In the future we plan to work with younger children to promote the link between food and farming. Due to urbanization, many children today do not know where their food comes from.
- Local schools can take advantage of educational visits to BiogenGreenfinch’s anaerobic digestion facility at our Twinwoods site in Bedfordshire recycles food waste to make renewable energy and bio-fertiliser. From September 2008 all 11-14 year olds will be required by the Government to learn about climate change and their own personal responsibility. We believe that being able to see a working AD plant in action will help students to think more deeply about the impact global warming is having in their own community and the role they can play.
