Our People
Bedfordia’s continued ability to succeed and grow is dependent on the quality and skills of its people. We believe that our people are our greatest asset and this belief is reflected in our recruitment process, our attitude to training and personal development and the value we place on the views of employees.
What do we do?
- Our innovative recruitment process –When recruiting the people to work at Bedfordia we make sure that we use the most effective processes to select and assess people based on their skills and experience to do the job. This might include case studies, role plays and team building exercises, covering customer service, interacting with team members and IT skills.
- Training and Personal Development – Our Induction Programme ensures new employees have an insight into each area of the business from the very start. We have a Management Foundation programme and a series of Manager workshops to develop practical management skills. For technical training we go to the best training providers and also have an Education Sponsorship Programme to support those wishing to gain Professional Qualifications.
- Employee Views – Getting the best from our people means listening to their views, opinions and suggestions. At Bedfordia we have a ‘Bright Ideas’ staff suggestion scheme to help us gather great business ideas from our people and recognise them. Through our annual Employee Opinion Survey we gather feedback on the communication and delivery of our Values and hear what’s important to our staff. Our internal newsletter ‘Inside Bedfordia’ ensures that staff are recognised for the contribution that they make to our business and gives us the opportunity to spotlight the “stars” around the business who are prepared to go the extra mile.
- Our Health and Safety standards - Bedfordia has a dedicated Group Health & Safety Advisor who works across all sites to continually monitor and raise standards and safety awareness. Our on-site H& S Representatives attend regular meetings to discuss employee concerns or requests. Larger issues which cannot be solved easily or quickly or require investment are passed to the Health & Safety Champions Group at senior management and director level.
- Bedfordia support their employee’s charity fundraising efforts through the Group’s matched donations initiative.
- Bedfordia has an active Social Committee which enables employees in all parts of the business to arrange social activities with colleagues on a regular basis. These include, bowling, go-karting, cinema and pizza evenings and our annual ‘Jamie McKeegan’ football tournament.
