Our Community

Bedfordia Group desires to give something back to the community and so regularly makes charitable donations to local causes. This is not ‘giving for the sake of giving’. The decisions on giving are governed by the following principles:

  1. The cause or organization must have values or principles in accord with Bedfordia’s own
  2. We favour helping smaller local groups who often do not have the resources that large national charities have.  This is not to say we do not support national causes  – each year our employees enthusiastically take part in raising funds for Children in Need, Wear it Pink and Comic Relief.

How are we involved?

  • Each year we donate money to charities in lieu of sending Christmas cards. We actively encourage suggestions from our employees for a particular charity or group that may be close to their heart.
  • Bedfordia's Social Committee donate Christmas gifts to various children’s organizations in the Bedford, Cambridge and Stansted areas.
  • Bedfordia opened up its working farm to the general public in 2007 and plan to do so again in 2011.  Open Farm Sunday is a national initiative organised by LEAF (Linking Environment and Farming) to make farms more accessible to families and the general public.
  • Our Automotive dealerships support the Motability scheme for disabled drivers, allowing those who receive Disability Living Allowance to purchase a new car at reduced prices.
  • Bedfordia Farms have donated 3 hectares of land to The Ibbett Trust for the building of a 66 bed care home for the elderly at Brickhill - to be run by Methodist Homes for the Aged.
  • Bedfordia make donations to a variety of local events and organizations such as village shows, fetes, nursing homes and youth clubs.
  • Bedfordia are annual sponsors of the Philharmonia Concert Season in aid of Road Victims Trust
