Bedford

A fine example of a Bedfordia commercial development can be seen at Prebend Street in Bedford. The 35,000 sq.ft. office building, originally the Eastern Electricity Board Headquarters, was purchased by Bedfordia Group in the 1979. Following the purchase, the building was initially used as the Bedfordia Group Head Office and became known as Bedfordia House. It was then let to Texas Instruments for 4 years -repaying the purchase cost - and later also housed the Raymond Cook Tours business, a travel company specialising in Christian holidays and also owned by the Bedfordia Group at that time.

Planning permission was sought to redevelop the site for residential use with a plan for more than 80 flats. Permission was eventually granted and the site sold.
