Open Farm Sunday

All the Fun at The Farm
12th June 2007: Over a thousand people came through the gates of Bedfordia's Milton House Farm on Sunday which was open to the public for the first time as part of Open Farm Sunday.
Visitors came from as far afield as Bognor Regis to enjoy the family day out. Young and old enjoyed trailer rides around the farm, farm walks, getting close to the pigs (including three week old piglets), viewing state of the art farm machinery and the grain store as well as the chance to see the BIOGEN plant, where pig slurry is mixed with food waste to create methane gas which produces electricity to power 1,000 homes.
The hog roast and refreshments raised over £1,000 with all proceeds going to local charities and groups.
Ian Smith, MD of Bedfordia Farms commented: "It was fantastic to see so many people enjoying the experience of being on a working farm and seeing for themselves how good quality British food is produced."
Notes to Editors:
The agricultural division of the Group operates in North Bedfordshire and South Northamptonshire and owns and manages 5,500 acres of predominantly arable farmland. It has 27,000 tonnes of grain storage and processing capacity and rears 23,000 pigs per annum
