Agriculture - Grain

Our Grain Storage business includes a storage capacity of 27,000 tonne, as well as Trade Assurance Scheme for Combinable Crops (TASCC) accredited laboratory facilities and a LIFFE registered futures store.

Our grain storage is housed in 24 silos and flat stores ranging from 40 to 3,000 tonnes. 12,000 tonnes of this capacity is utilised by Bedfordia Farms and 15,000 tonnes are let to Wellgrain. The main store is based at Milton House Farm and is strategically well located close to a number of flour mills including Whitworths, Heygates, Finedon and Weetabix. It consists of a main processing plant capable of in-taking wheat at 300 tonnes per hour (tph) and out-loading at 160 tph. The plant has facilities to dry at 60 tph from 20 – 15% moisture.

The grain store at Milton House Farm is also a LIFFE registered futures store. Futures grain trades at a higher level than ex-farm wheat so the farm can achieve a higher market price. It also means that up to 3 harvest crops can be marketed at any one time, which allows for maximisation of price on the open market and secures the price of the crop even before it is sown.

Our TASCC accredited grain laboratory has facilities to analyse all of the major on-farm characteristics of wheat, barley, rape and beans, enabling us to match quality to end user requirements.
